1. Familiar with related local regulations     Before raising chickens, we advice you to learn the local regulations. As we known, most towns have restriction on the flock size,  or the distance between chicken coop and your house. Some areas may need a chicken permit or building permit for chicken house, please check with your government to learn more details.

2. What breed of chicken to choose    Different types of chickens have different characteristics and living habits. Some breeds are gentle that are friendly to children. However, some breeds are better suited to places with extremely cold or extremely hot climates, so you need to spend some time on researching it.

3. Keep warm     Baby chicks can’t keep themselves warm on their own as they don’t have enough feathers, so they need to be kept under a heat lamp in the chicken house for the first eight weeks.

4. You need to preparecardboard box , a heat lamp, a chick-sized waterer and feeder, and chick feed, when your chickens are lagers enough, you provide a comfortable home for them. You could building a house for them, or order a chicken  pre-fabricated wooden chicken coop, about the size, it's about 3-4 square foot per chicken, but if your chickens need to stay in the coop for a long time, the suggested space in the coop is 7 to 8 square foot per hen.

5. Teach your dog not to attack your chickens  you need to train your dog and let they know that chickens are not his prey. When you establish rules for your dog successfully, they will be the guardian of the chicken.
