We have six chickens and it's barely big enough for them, but they only spend time in there at night. The rest of the time, they free range in their generously sized back yard space. We are brand new chicken owners and it's a great starter coop, my husband and I intent to modify it by expanding the run area and adding a extra level or story above the existing run to give them extra roosting space. Definitely worth the money though, we calculated the cost to build everything from scratch and even using scrap wood it would have cost us double to triple the price.

This coop is pretty easy to put together. I was able to do it by myself (although it would be much easier with 2 at some points). I bought as a grow out coop for my chicks to go in as soon as the weather was warm enough to throw them outside. I love that it has wheels to move around the yard. Unfortunately, the handle broke the first time i tried to move it after assembling. The company was very quick to respond to my complaint and make it right. I would recommend this coop as a temporary starter. However, now that my chicks are old enough to free range with the big girls, the big girls found a new apartment to lay their eggs ?? so it still works as a second place to lay eggs and hopefully will deter the hens from laying in random places.

As a first-time chicken owner, I did tons of research and knew prefab coops often need modifications. This one's actually better than I expected! The wire mesh surprised me - it's sturdier than most budget coops, though I still reinforced it with staples for extra security.I took preventative measures: sealed all the seams with caulk, gave it a protective paint job, and upgraded all the latches to predator-proof ones. The assembly was straightforward, though the instructions could be clearer. The size is perfect for my 3 hens. While not 100% predator-proof out of the box, with my modifications it's working great.
